Create Magic! volunteer!
Habitat has a place for everyone!!
- Board of Directors
Southeast New Hampshire Habitat has only one paid, part-time employee: an Executive Director. Our all-volunteer Board of Directors represents a variety of experience and talent. We are actively recruiting Board members to help organize and administer our teams.
- Family Selection: Selects families to live in Habitat houses
- The team manages the selection process which can take as long as six months. It evaluates applicant families on the basis of their need for adequate shelter, ability to pay, and willingness to partner with Habitat.
In addition to evaluating the standard credit and financial information required of all homebuyers, the team also conducts visits to the homes of applicant families.
- Family Support: Forms the backbone of the relationship between us and the Partner Families
- This team facilitates homeowner training and helps families understand their homeowner duties, in terms of both their partnership with Habitat (financial, sweat equity, etc) and other areas, such as budgeting and home maintenance. The team also helps Southeast New Hampshire Habitat learn from the families, and use this knowledge to improve its program to better serve their needs.
- Construction: Plans, coordinates, and oversees new construction and rehabilitation projects
- Team members interface with designers, suppliers, engineers, city planners, subcontractors and individuals/organizations playing a role in the build. The team obtains permits; prepares construction schedules and materials lists; manages procurement of materials; interfaces with municipalities and regulatory officials; and oversees the work of subcontractors & volunteers.
Who makes a good team member here? We'd welcome anyone with experience or knowledge of site development or building homes, from surveyors to architects, from building supply people to carpenters.
- Site Selection: Identifies potential sites for construction
-
This team checks with city offices for availability of utility hook-ups, identifying deed holders of different properties, and works with the construction committee to be certain that the lot is "buildable".
- Volunteer Relations: Organizes and contacts volunteers
- This team sets up times and places to work, whether in the office, at events or on the job site. This team also maintains our volunteer database, tracks volunteer hours and sets criteria for volunteer recognition.
- Fundraising: Develops fundraising ideas; plans, coordinates & administers special events and campaigns
- Team members raise funds for Habitat houses. They coordinate corporate sponsorships, donor relations and recognition. While managing Southeast New Hampshire Habitat fundraising, this team helps raise community awareness of our mission.

- Public Relations: Gets the word out about Habitat's mission and activities
- Team members interface with media; speak to local chambers of commerce, church congregations and other organizations; participate in community events; create marketing and presentation materials; maintain the web site and publish the newsletter.
