How We Work…
The Habitat for Humanity Need & Creed:
The call for decent affordable housing around the world is staggering. An estimated 25 percent of the world's population, some 1.5 billion people, live in substandard housing or have no home at all. Families are trapped in a daily struggle to survive amid horrible, often inhuman living conditions.
Habitat for Humanity builds houses with people in need, providing them with shelter, pride and hope. Habitat houses are sold on a no-interest loan basis. Home owners pay in "sweat equity" and house payments are recycled to build additional homes. Habitat for Humanity International is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses together in partnership with families in need.
